Opinion document: Syria, the "new golden jihadist"

After Afganistan and Irak, Syria became an international plataform for the djihadisme phenomenon. The war in March 2011, as consequence of uprising arabe revolution, allowed the diferentes armed groups to find a new refuge. All islamist groups have the same objective: eliminate Bachar El Asad’s regime and impose a politique hegemony and an Islamic State with an extremist vision of the religion of islam. But, the posibilites for this kind of armies groups to achieve theirs aims are very limited because siriya has a traditional secular trajectory and the people refuse the radical visión of religion. In this paper, we show the capacity of armies groups to attract new recrutes to become djihadistes and the threat that they represent for the Occident and muslim world when those brand new djihadistes go back to their contries of origine.
