Relations between Gambia and Senegal: History and Future Prospects.- Mamadou Cheikh Agne

The history has sealed this geographical and historical unity, however the invasion and the colonial expansion has left an artificial division that still has effects today.
The evolution of relations between these two countries after their independence has been as pacific neighbors with good cooperative experiences through signed agreements and political and socio-economic integration, but it has also has had contentious moments rooted in the management of the common boarders, specifically the conflict of the southern region of Senegal Casamance among others.
