American foreign policy toward Central America and the Caribbean: a historical and political approach.- Mª Luisa Pastor Gómez

The article analyzes the dynamics of the US expansionism along the Nineteenth Century, first to the West getting away from what Frederick Jackson Turner called the border with Europe, then to the Pacific Ocean as well as to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. This expansionist process, vital in the history of the US, culminated with a strong presence in the area that has endured over time, although in the last stage the bilateral relationship has become more equal so that the asymmetry between both Americas has decreased.
