Jihad: Radical and discourse.- Pablo Cañete Blanco

The purpose of this paper is to delimit and define the different stages within the Islamic radicalization process through the revision of some theories and studies published about this topic. It also tries to analyze political and social polarization produced by the mass media and by political class in order to assess the possibility that the narratives and political discourses of those actors influence that process. It seeks to focus on the complexity of the process and the pluralism of subjects as facts to consider in order to assess possible solutions to the jihadist phenomenon. Lastly, it points at three different fundamental action fields in counterterrorism: Ideological battle, security/defense and political integration.
