The new "old wars" between terrorism and insurgency.- Emilio Sánchez de Rojas Díaz

The last wars in the MENA region, particularly in Libya and Syria-Iraq, have brought us back to a scenario that separates both traditional wars and "new wars", a concept that was popularized by Mary Kaldor and others. The importance of the occupation of cities and their defense at all costs, the control of communications between them, the use of propaganda as a tool of war, make us think of a hybridization between insurgency and terrorism.

The classification of certain groups, which pursue the occupation and government of important parts of the territory of one or more countries, leads us to face the controversial subject of the definition of terrorism.
