Latin America: lost opportunity and uncertain future.- Sergio Daga Mérida

Despite recent economic and social progress, most countries in Latin America during the years of economic bonanza (2004-2011) failed to establish difficult -but necessary- reforms, that would mean sustained improvements in the quality of life of their inhabitants relative to that of developed countries. Without the necessary reforms, the challenges the region faces in the future, such as increasing urbanization, higher proportion of the middle class in search for higher quality public services, and the entry into the labor market of a large percentage of the population, among others, will mean the permanence of Latin America as a region that will continue in the process of development, but without fully accomplish it.
