Last 16th April, Turkish people approved a constitutional reform to turn Turkey into a Presidencialist Republic. Erdogan justifies the reform in the need of a strong and stable governances system to ensure stability and developement. The opposition states that in fact it is a change that will allow Erdogan to act without democratic controls. This article reviews the political evolution of Erdogan, initialy regarded as Turkey´s democratic reformer, and analizes the meaning of the constitutional changes and its implications in the international arena.
