The China’s 19th National Congress of the Communist Party and the visit of the President of the United States.- Alba Ambrós Coso

The celebration of China’s 19th National Congress of the Communist Party in Beijing, which takes place every five years, has gained greater importance on this occasion. The purpose of the Congress was to test the strength of the Party’s General Secretary and President of China, Xi Jinping’s leadership ahead of his second five-year term. The question was cleared with the appointments of politicians related to Xi in the governing bodies of the party and its goals to turn China into a global power in 2050. The visit of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to Beijing a week after the end of the Congress sets the tone of how future relations between both countries can be.
