‘America First’: a valid model of national security for the USA?.- Mario Laborie Iglesias

This document offers some keys to decipher the new US National Security Strategy published on December 18, 2017. The main subject is whether the strategy, the first of the Trump´s era, is the one that the US needs to protect its interests and values in view of today´s strategic context. From a complete reading of the document, it could be concluded that China, Russia, Iran, North Korea and jihadism displace all other security issues to a secondary role. The strategy adopts a narrow geopolitical approach and raises doubts about its usefulness in conducting US foreign policy in the current volatile and convulsive era.
