Border Issues in Eastern Europe (DIEEEA06-2012)

In Center and Eastern Europe the movement of borders has been so frequent during the last two centuries that no country can flatly affirm where start and end its limits, something that opens the door to all kind of revisionist interpretations, many times based more on myths and legends than on real facts. At the end of the Cold War in 1989, the consequent political openness created new divisions (fifteen states from the USSR, seven from Yugoslavia) few time peaceful, and the resurgence of old territorial conflicts, which two decades later are far from being solved.
