Mali Government Crisis: Planning Factor for International Intervention (DIEEEA58-2012)

On December 10, the political stability of Mali suffered another setback with the forced resignation of Prime Minister Diarra. Just hours before, the European Union approved the concept of crisis management for training operation of the Malian armed forces. For its part, the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS) has submitted to the UN, for approval, the concept of an African operation, which aims to expel the terrorists from the north and restore the territorial integrity of the country. In parallel, the International Community continue to drive the dialogue with the groups tuaregs as a key factor for the political, security and social restoration of Mali. Undoubtedly, the crisis of the Government in Bamako today affects the military intervention planning.
