United Nations (MINUSCA) in CAR (DIEEEA48-2014)

Since 15th September, the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) is deployed in the country in order to protect civilians, to support the authorities in a complex transition process and to ensure reconciliation of a population torn apart because of the violence and lawlessness imposed by Seleka and Anti Balaka criminals. At the moment, after relieving the MISCA African forces, 7,500 peacekeepers are deployed (an entity far below of the 12,000 strong authorized), who are supported by the Sangaris French Operation and the EUFOR RCA mission. On the ground, security has been increased in the capital, Bangui, but the conflict is exacerbated by the secessionist claims in the Northeast and the non-compliance of peace agreements.
