Africa's borders: Walls against threats (DIEEEA01-2016)

The construction of physical barriers along borders has been a constant throughout the History. Contemporary walls have other purposes (immigration, counterterrorism, control of diseases and/or pests,...). More than 30 new walls have been raised after September 11th; 15 of them during current year.
There exist several doubts about its usefulness and some people consider them more as temporary solution, more oriented to domestic public opinion that as useful tools for international relations. However,… are they really effective?
