Consequences of the umpteenth split of Boko Haram for the future of the terrorist group (DIEEEINV03-2017)

Boko Haram remains a terrorist threat for Nigeria and a number of neighbours (Niger, Cameroon, and Chad). These four countries together with Benin established an ‘ad hoc’ alliance against this group in 2015. This analysis deals with the effects of the Islamic State’s inspired split provoked by summer 2016 and that is challenging the Abu Bakr Shekau’s leadership.
