Spanish media have covered the conflict in Mali and they have contributed to create a favourable public opinion about the French military intervention. However, and at the same time, a high degree of ignorance about the conflict is also identified; along with some not followed trends with regard to media treatment to previous conflicts. This article discusses the media treatment about this crisis from two perspectives. Firstly, it aims at identifying the potential influence on Spanish public opinion of the published pieces of news in those mass media. After that, the possible utilization of those media to support the French Government´s communication strategy in order to persuade and influence the public opinion has also been analysed.
