The "selective default" public debt of Argentina 2014 (DIEEEO11-2015)

States, for various reasons, have squandered over the last decades its wealth of resources. This “demystification of the State” has led to private entities, devoid of any attributes of sovereignty, to challenge the State´s monopoly, as seen in the dispute between Argentina and a minority of its creditors, which is discussed in this article, or, closer to us, in the huge pressure that was put on Spain in the Summer of 2012 by the financial markets. Undoubtedly, these economic problems can cause tensions and affect their political stability, and even spread like wildfire to other States.
