The political status of Tibet (DIEEEO63-2015)

The political status of Tibet is an unresolved issue since 1950, when the newly proclaimed People’s Republic of China’s troops entered in this territory. Its great strategic importance lies on its geographical location as well as on its huge reservoirs of natural resources. In current times, this topic is still a source of conflict between China and its neighbouring countries. While other states condemn the policies carried out by China in regards to human rights, the measures put in place by the Chinese Government concerning the management of the Tibetan region ensure its belonging to the People’s Republic of China in the future.
