Islam, Terrorism and Mass Media (DIEEEO83-2015)

9/11 terrorist attacks in NY, not only represented a new form of indiscriminate violence, but also reappeared old injuries, paving the way once more to the emergence of antagonic blocks in the international arena. In front of a simple geographical scene like the west a monotheistic religion appeared to place itself just on the other side. Mass media did the rest setting the parameters of this new confrontation widening the existing deep between both
The jihadist movement exploited the power offered by the new propaganda means techniques to become a real mass phenomenon in a very short period of time recruiting new adepts to this cause.
The sort of thirst for information so created made the movement to turn into ideology and helped to widely spread everything having something to do with this new form of terrorism.
