Kashmir, the most coveted Asia (DIEEEA100-2016)

Since 1947, the Kashmir conflict has been a constant in the international scene. The region has witnessed four wars between three nuclear powers: India, Pakistan and China. The past years suggest some progress towards the normalization of relations between India and Pakistan, in part due to a new generation of leaders. However, this optimism is put into question due to the stagnation of the conflict, which already lasts 69 years, and to the alleged interest that DAESH would have shown in the region. This article aims to determine the strategic interest of Kashmir, analysing the evolution of the conflict and the prospects for the future.
