Part I: Policies nuclear confrontation. The case of India and Pakistan (DIEEEO43-2016)

Nuclear weapons themselves and their control represent a clear challenge to the international community. The results of the last Non Proliferation Treaty are an example of that.

In this context, we developed a conceptual framework, from both constructivism and international relations theory, to deal with the cases of India and Pakistan looking for an explanation of the current situation and thinking in the evolution of each case.

We reached several conclusions, standing out that the strategic options on nuclear and non-proliferation policy are primary linked to national identity processes, national interests and the reconstruction or reproduction of such identities through their foreign policies.
