The intelligence gained through non-verbal behavior in human sources (DIEEEO77-2016)

The process of gathering intelligence from individuals continues being an important one. This article highlights the importance of both operator and HUMINT analyst training in the field of nonverbal behavior. It briefly outlines the different expressive behaviors to be submitted to analysis, such as facial expression, gestures, body posture and movements, paralanguage and emotional prosody, proxemics, haptics, appearance, oculesics and verbal channel. Finally, the article describes the NBAM (Nonverbal Behavior Analysis Matrix) protocol, which is the only global nonverbal behavior protocol published to date and which can afford a greater scientific rigor to any analysis.
