NATO Summit in Warsaw (DIEEEO79bis-2016)

The recent Warsaw Summit -held on July, the 8th and 9 th 2016- has attempted to reassert the message of unity and cohesion among Allies, avoiding security regionalization which could lead to the loss of solidarity and, thus, NATO’s weakness.

To this end, decisions have been adopted and initiatives launched aiming at offering the picture of an adapted and adaptable Alliance in the political, military and institutional domains.

Apart from conveying the intention of strengthening strategic cooperation with the EU and other partners before Russia, NATO has taken a strong stance, supported on deterrence and defense measures, as well as on cooperative defense, yet clearly showing the permanent readiness to engage in dialogue and debate. And all this, expressing an overall concern throughout NATO’s borders, with a 360 degrees approach, which does not overlook neither the Eastern Flank, nor its Southern one, in its effort to project security across all borders of the Alliance.
