Regression of integration in North America revives regional geopolitical trends (DIEEEO24-2017)

Though the overhaul of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) asked by the Trump administration may introduce possitive improvements for the three country partners, it obeys to an attittude of distrust towards the North American integration process of the last two decades. A regression in the advance towards greater regional convergence could revive the geopolitical tendencies of the three countries of North America. While some of them could push for a tightening gap between Mexico and the United States, others could lead to a growing absorption of Canada by its southern neighbor.
