The Mekong region, strategic border for Japan (DIEEEO49-2017)

The Asia Pacific region is undergoing dramatic changes, to the already known rise of the People's Republic of China we have to add the result of the US elections. In light of this new situation, Japan has no other option than trying to assert itself as a stability factor in Asia. One of the regions where Japan is deploying its ability is in Southeast Asia and more precisely in the Mekong region. Cooperation in the security, economic and ODA areas are going to be the vectors of a new approach to the region. A renewed, better adapted, comprehensive, global and balanced approach.
