Fifty years of the Tet Offensive: the turning point of the Vietnam War (DIEEEO64-2018)

The present year marks the 50th anniversary of the Tet Offensive. The sudden communist attack against the main South Vietnamese urban centers turned the tables in a conflict in which the US forces were already announcing an imminent victory. Washington fell into Hanoi’s trap, and even although the main goals the latter attempted to achieve in the campaign were not obtained, the Tet Offensive did inflict a considerable damage in the American logistic and military nightmare, managed to affect the course of the US politics and succeeded at pitting the majority of its public opinion against the war.
