Drugs, Organized Crime, Illicit Finacial Flows (UNODC 2017) (DIEEEI09-2017)

The World Drug Report 2017 published by UNODC expresses concern about the increasing   and consumption of drugs in the world and the threat to the health of the population, the effects of drug trafficking in the world economy, as well as the fact that this source of income is served to the financing of organized criminal networks and terrorism on a global scale. However, the text concludes stating that since drug trafficking is not the only source of funding for these groups, the reduction in drug production and trafficking would not be enough to cut off resources. In any case, if the challenges derived from drugs consuming are to be addressed effectively, collaboration between countries together with the exchange of information are necessary, both at the regional and interregional and international levels.
