Colombia: A country steeped in half a century of conflict (DIEEEM01-2015)

Colombia is currently approaching deep changes in terms of economical and social development strategies, rebuilding of foreign policy at international level and the re-location of the country among its regional neighbors. However the biggest challenge that the country is currently facing is the peace negotiation with colombian insurgents. With Juan Manuel Santos, re-elected as President of Colombia and acting as a main catalyst for these dialogs, the country is currently immerse in negotiations which are beginning to extend too much in time and at the same time starting to show its weaknesses.
