Mediterranean, one year later (DIEEEO123-2016)

Migration is a structural phenomenon of the European Union. In order to improve migration policies, it is necessary to guarantee refugee status for those who fear persecution: It is an international obligation. One year after the “refugees’ crisis”, the arrivals to Europe are regular, regardless of borders closures. Thus, given the evidence that migrants and refugees will continue to be victims of human rights violations, in Libya and Turkey; Europe must be aware that the protection of refugees it is essential for the continuity of the EU as an integrative and inclusive project for the world.
