Global Leadership renewed or cycle end? The new spaces of confrontation (DIEEEINV11-2015)

Once the bipolar confrontation of the Cold War ended, the United States has enjoyed a period of unprecedented hegemony in History, although the relative failure of its military campaigns after 9-11 2001 weakened the foundations of its global leadership. Nowadays, the combination of the confrontation with Russia because of Ukraine, as well as the attempt to contain the rise of China in the Pacific, instead of jointly managing the regional security, have facilitated progress toward a new multipolar world order, in which each time the contrast between Western positions and the rest of the world is greater, something that opens the door to new scenarios of confrontation.
