Given the upsurge in violence that gangs have caused in 2016, the Salvadoran government has launched a series of emergency measures , including the incommunication of gang jailed leader, to avoid giving orders abroad. These measures have provoked the gangs announce the unilateral stop of violence that has already produced a decrease in the rate of homicides. The question is how long will last this unilateral truce and what the consequences will be in the medium term.
