Russia's decision to intervene militarily in the conflict is a result of a number of factors: the memory of Western intervention in Libya, the need to overcome its international isolation after the annexation of Crimea, or the desire to take advantage of the fight against the Daesh in order to improve relations with the US. However, despite Moscow’s partial success in obtaining recognition of its diplomatic role and the propaganda value of its military campaign, it is doubtful whether it will completely achieve its goals or manage to establish a lasting cooperation with Washington.
