The public-private partnerships in Defense (DIEEEO32-2012)

This paper analyses the economics of Public-Private Partnership, assessing its main strengths and weaknesses. The analysis is based in transaction cost economics and principal-agent theory and the main problems that unfold in these collaborations such as asymmetric information, assets specificity, and the chance of opportunistic behavior. The analyses focuses in assessing to which level this kind of partnering can improve the economic efficiency of the provision of defence.
