Comprehensive Fitness Soldier. In search of resilient soldier (DIEEEO42-2012)

The United States Army is conducting a series of programs aimed at ensuring that its Armed Forces are prepared to face the long decade of deployment in Irak and Afghanistan as well as the future challenges that lie ahead.
This paper presents some of the programs that have been implemented during the last few years; in particular, the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) program, which aims to enhance resilience for any person linked to the army –soldiers, family members and army civilians– through the development of five pillars: physical, emotional, social, spiritual and family.
Hence a drastic change is taking place in the training of soldiers as mental skills are equalized to physical skills.
