The Future of Peacekeeping Operations of the UN (DIEEEO43-2013)

Peacekeeping operations have involved the most important activities of the United Nations. Over time they have evolved and now not only confined to the military, but cover other fields who want to solve a conflict definitively. This is known as comprehensive approach. This ambitious process requires the participation of a greater number of actors, especially civil and police component, which may belong to different organizations. This has led to more complicated operations to coordinate and execute. In order to be effective it is necessary to consider that aspect needs to change and what are the weaknesses that can lead to failure.
