Neuroscience at the National Security Service. The "proof of P300" (DIEEEO08-2015)

After the failure of the traditional methods in the detection of lies field, the United States government, and various researchers, consider the technologies based on functional magnetic resonance (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG) the best in lie detection, declaring these technologies useful even for terrorists or spies detection. In Spain, the implementation of the P300 evoked potential test, for forensic purposes, unleashed a storm of controversy. In this article the test is analyzed in detail, pointing out the risk of an indiscriminate use, although some studies shows a reliability index of 90% for this test.
