The concept of security. Relative importance of security dimensions in Europe and the southern Mediterranean (DIEEEO83-2017)

This paper seeks to deep into the concept of Security. More specifically the aim is to establish the prelation among food security, energy security, environmental security, organized crime and terrorism in Europe and the south of the Mediterranean Sea.

The essay use a simplified system (in terms of risk, likelihood and impact) to relativize importance among the security dimensions. This way it is easy to differentiate between perception and real importance what is the very interesting in order to assign resources.

At the end of the paper it will be shown that environmental security, food security, energy security and organized crime have more or, at least, as much specific weight as terrorism and irregular migration being less media chatter with them than with the last two.
