Always populisms: an explanation from the history of ideas (DIEEEO91-2017)

The term populism is often accompanied by negative connotations. Abuse of the term, however, can lead to employ it without rigor or incorrectly, as with other words such as ‘fascism’. To avoid falling into that error, this document tries to explain the origin of the term, what are the general characteristics of a populist political system and what would be the clearest historical examples.
