Jihadism in Africa: Threat, context and response (DIEEEA10-2015)

Africa is the epicenter of the global geostrategic, despite the lack of interest still awake. Facing these opportunities, boosted by a massive economic, energetic and human potential; security challenges continue obstructing African progress and stability. Amongst them, the jihadist violence is spreading dramatically, while the international community remains focused focus on the Middle East. At present, Mali, Libya, Nigeria and Somalia are the main settings of jihadism in Africa, and although they share common parameters, each of which requiring a thorough investigation of the threat (entity, strategy and action) and the context in which this develops. Only then the most timely and effective response will glimpse to eradicate the stigma of jihadist terrorism in Africa, which is not only massacring its population and destroying the stability of their governments, but their impact is increasingly evident and dangerous outside African borders.
