Opinion document: The link between Latin America and the Caribbean with the international economic structure

The link between Latin America and the Caribbean with the international economic structure is facing new changes in the distribution of power and wealth patterns, in particular, to a process of shifting wealth or a transfer of economic and political gravity to the Asia-Pacific area. At the same time, the region will face a reduction of “favourable winds” of the world economy, which has allowed the region to achieve unprecedented levels of growth and development. Below, future prospects of the new global economic context, the position of developed and developing countries, the on-going “mega-negotiations” and the role that regional integration will play in shaping the new geo-economic logic, will be discussed.
