The Romanian armed forces were created in 1859, within the context of the formation of the country and its independence; subsequently participating in the two world wars with the result of becoming a member of the Warsaw Pact, after its foundation in 1955, forcing them to adopt the Soviet model. Since then in 1989, after the revolution, and the entry into NATO in 2004, their role in the new geo-strategic scenario has transformed the regarding personnel, structures and participation, without remaining aloof from the economic crisis..
