The private security corporations

The rise of private security corporations, linked to the privatization of the latter, is a central theme in actual studies on security. The range and consolidation of this new reality makes it obligatory reference and consideration as it´s evidenced by the existence, at the international level, of a significant critical mass of studies dedicated to these new international actors on security. Also in Spain it begins to be a number of studies focusing on this issue. This work is intended to be a further contribution to the reflections on the phenomenon and the possibilities of managing it and
quote it through national and international regulations.
Aware that the privatization of security is part of other processes connected to globalization and shows no signs of weakness - in contrast, it seems to settle and extend - and worried about the negative consequences that might have on the global governance of international security as a public global good, this work intends to delve into some aspects related to the privatization of
security and the role of private security corporations.
The work is divided into three parts. The first one is devoted to the analysis of the regulatory initiatives on the activity of these companies. The second part concerns to the analysis of the performance of military enterprises and companies in different areas of insecurity. Finally, the third part is dedicated to security and business internationalization.
