Wilāyat Sayna': the ' province ' of Daesh in the Egyptian Sinai.- Luis A. González Francisco

Egypt is an important country for various reasons: it has a population of 86 million people which makes it the largest populated in the Arabic world. The Islamic University of Al-Azar, “The Splendorous” is in its capital, a place of reference for the Islamic Sunni and also a geographical reference of the country. What happens inside its frontiers can have repercussions on all the Middle East. Within the upheaval in which Egypt has been affected in one way or another, especially in the recent years, the jihadist movement with salafist inspiration has a relevant role, even though it is something that Egypt experienced in the past. Nowadays it has become important again especially its most distinguished actor Wilāyat Saynā’ (Province of Sinaí), the subsidiary of Daesh in the Country, group which before was named Ansar Beit Al Maqdis.
