Libya, the war of General Khalifa Haftar.- Ignacio Fuente Cobo

Since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libya has gone from being one of the richest countries in the world to becoming a failed state. In recent years, Libya has lacked the political, financial, and even social stability that might allow it to overcome the state of continuous struggle among all factions, despite the fact that there are no insurmountable religious or ideological differences within its population. While the Daesh has been defeated in the northern city of Sirte, the Government of the National Accord located in Tripoli remains weak and incapable of influencing the real agents of power in Libya, which are the regional groups and local armed militias that control large swaths of the Country including the capital. Meanwhile, the military successes of the Libyan National Army have turned General Khalifa Haftar, favorable to the rival government of Tobruk, into the real arbiter of the situation.
