The existence of complex, long and international supply chains in which the networks of subsidiaries, suppliers, franchises, contractors and subcontractors collaborate, there is a higher percentage, than in the rest of the cases, of human rights violations.
States have the obligation to respect, protect and guarantee the human rights of any person who is either in their territory or within their jurisdiction. Obviously, that obligation remains when human rights violations occur by companies.
This document analyzes the Judgment of the General Court of the European Union dated July 20, 2017, which ratified the decision to immobilize the capital of both companies, considering their responsibility for the situation in the Central African Republic to be accredited.
