The Lebanese Army facing the consolidation challenge.- Francisco Salvador Barroso Cortés

The Lebanese Army is still considered as one of the few national institutions capable of ensuring unity and cohesion within the confessional labyrinth that exists in Lebanon. The 72nd anniversary of its founding was celebrated last year and it is facing a socio-political context full of obstacles and challenges that are hampering its consolidation. The article delves into the domestic factors that explain the stagnation of this military institution. In this way, the article presents the impact of sectarianism, the triumph of Communitocracy, as well as the delicate relationship between Hezbollah and the Lebanese Army, as the main factors that would hamper its definitive consolidation process.
