EUBAM Libya: Border security to national and regional stabilization (DIEEEA36-2013)

In the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy, on 22 May 2013, the European Union Council approved his second mission in Libya: EUBAM Libya. This new mission came two years after the military mission EUFOR Libya, authorized in April 2011 but never deployed. The aim of this new European mission is provide assistance to the Libyan authorities in order to enhance the land, maritime and air security in the country borders. EUBAM Libya, with two year for its initial mandate, it’s another tool to reinforce the actual European support –not exempt from criticisms– to the Libya´s Government in order to carry out its national reconstruction, which is now seriously threatened by an alarming escalation of violence.
