The evolution of the recruitment of child in the countries participating in the campaign"‘Children, Not Soldiers’ " (I Part) (DIEEEA58-2017)

The United Nations Secretary-General publishes a report on children and armed conflicts annually, this tool exposes the violations of the children’s rights documented in many countries and denounces the armed groups that carry them out. Despite this official publication, the adversities faced by international observers in war zones make recording all cases of child soldiers very difficult.

In order to analyze the evolution of child recruitment from 2009 to 2016 and the effectiveness of initiatives to combat the problem, the first part of this research has focused on the cases of Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chad and Myanmar. These four countries, which have been part of the “shame list”, not only signed action plans, but also participated in the ‘Children, Not Soldiers’ campaign developed by the United Nations between 2014 and 2016.
