Sahel: A reversible demographic tsunami? (DIEEEA03-2018)

The study and analysis of demography is essential to understand societies and develop policies in all fields, including Security. International attention to the Sahel has been focused on the armed insurgency and terrorism, however the main concern about the Sahel should be focus on its demographic explosion. It is necessary to begin to assimilate that the Sahel will be responsible for a third of the world's population growth. Europe must assume that the problem of African population growth in general, and in the Sahel in particular, is also its short and medium term security problem.
