Talent management in the Armed Forces. A strategic decision (DIEEEINV10-2016)

Talent Management is the new core focus point within companies Human Resources departments. Nowadays, this process results especially complex and demanding. Setting as a starting point the talent management techniques from big civilian organizations, we analyze the current situation of the Armed Forces regarding this matter. The Comprehensive Competencies Management is shown as the most appropiate technique amongst those implemented by big companies, throughout the analysis of concepts such as performance assessment and competential profiles. This offers and broadens the possibilities of implementation within the Armed Forces with the necessary and logical adaptations.
This analysis presents the duality of the talent management vs. the traditional staff management and it is the challenge we shall face in the near future.
