UN Security Council Resolution 2093 (2013): Somalia´s gradual consolidation as a viable state (DIEEEO34-2013)

UN Security Council Resolution 2093 (2013) adopted on 6 March establishes a reorganization of UN activities in Somalia; partially lifts the arms embargo in the benefit of the Somali Government; and extends for an additional year the mandate of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). This decision constitutes a clear token of support to the new Federal Government of Somalia in their critical endeavor against the salafist-djihadist organization Al Shabab; it boosts an increasing implication of the International Community directly in the country, thus allowing legitimate hopes about Somalia´s gradual consolidation as a viable state.
